    SEC Basketball

I know there are a lot of SEC football fans on here, but how many dont abandon their teams come time to go on the hardwood??

How will the SEC finish? How well will your team do? Who will be SEC POY? FOY? DPOY?
    SEC coach of the year?
    Most underrated player??

My team is Alabama. I expect nothing above mediocrity. We have one proven stud, JaMichael Green, and a bunch of unproven pieces. I like the hire of Anthony Grant from VCU, he is a great coach and will bring Bama back to the days of Kennedy Winston, Ronald Steele, E. Shelton, A. Pettaway, etc.... back to the days of upsetting Stanford and Syracuse in the NCAA tourney, making it to the Elite 8 and losing to eventual NC's Uconn.
Bama can do it, they can get decent kids.

    How they will finish;
    SEC East:
    Kentucky
    UT
    Vandy
    USC
    Florida
    Georiga

    SEC West:
    Mississippi State
    Ole Miss
    LSU
    Arkansas
    Alabama
    Auburn

SEC Player of the Year: Devan Downey, G, USC
SEC Freshman of the Year: John Wall, G, UK. (if Sidney gets cleared it will be a two horse race)
SEC Defensive Player of the Year: Jarvis Vernardo, C, Miss. State.
SEC Coach of the Year: John Calapari, UK
Most underrated player: Chris Warren, Ole Miss.

Does anyone know if Renardo Sidney has been cleared at Miss. State yet? If so, watch out. They could be a Final Four team.

I saw that UT lost last night, but to my darkhorse final four team, Purdue. UT will be good as well.

    UK:Final Four
    UT:Elite 8
Miss. State: with Sidney, Elite 8. without, One and Done.
    USC: two and out
Vanderbilt: Sweet 16 (Vandy is freakin good)
    Ole Miss: one and done.

    Thoughts?

That UT game was back and forth the whole way. It still wouldn't surprise me to see them win the East.

I cant see them being able to guard UK's perimeter players.

and inside, Patrick Patterson is better than Tyler Smith and Wayne Chism.

but i dont hold losing to Purdue against them, Purdue is great. returned all 5 from last year, a lockdown defender in Hummel and a proven scorer like Moore, Purdue could upset MSU and win the Big 10

Let me give you big-ups Biggin' for staying with your team the whole year through. I see so many folks around here wear that UT orange through football season, and then rush the duds to the closet to grab that UK blue for basketball season. That burns me up,and it's as common as dirt around here. I feel you on the medocrity thing though: I like Miami and UVA,and basketball has been tough to watch for years

yeah that does aggravate me a whole lot, to me if you choose to root for one school, how in the world can you just abandon your team for another when basketball rolls around? I dont understand it.

I will always root for Alabama, no matter what. There are other teams I enjoy watching, like Kentucky this year, Uconn, Syracuse, Washington, Purdue, Georiga Tech, I hope they win and like to see them do well, but I dont root for them per say.

In my eyes, and im sure a lotta people feel otherwise, if you dont root for your team year round, then you cant consider yourself a true fan of either school.

What if the basketball school you pull for doenst have a football team?

The reason I say UT is that they can at least matchup with UK and have more experience. Those should be some exciting games.

They do have the talent to match up, no doubt. And with UK having so many frosh, they do not have big game experience.

But overall skill level, depth, and coaching I give the nod to UK.

    UK starting five:

    G-John Wall
    G-Eric Bledsoe
    F-Darnell Dodson
    F-DeMarcus Cousins
    F-Patrick Patterson

    UT:

    G-Bobby Maze
    G-Scotty Hopson
    G-JP Prince
    F-Tyler Smith
    C-Wayne Chism

Being honest ,I dont see one position UT is better off at than UK.
Wall and Bledsoe are better than Maze and Hopson, Dodson and Prince are almost equal, Patterson is better than Smith (because of his size and back to the basket skills), and Cousins will more than likely be more productive than Chism, but I could be wrong about that.

Im not saying UT isnt any good, nor am I saying they cant steal the UK game @UT, but I dont see them finishing higher than UK at the end of the year, nor beating them out of the SEC title.

the SEC is a ton better this year than it was last year, not near as many gimmie games.

    Re: SEC Basketball

Bledsoe cannot handle the ball very well. Cleveland State is pick pocketing him left and right from what few minutes I have saw of that game tonight. If Wall gets hurt, or in foul trouble, especially against a team like UT, UK will have a hard time.

Im huge ETSU guy though. Many are just side ETSU fans. I have been to TBA and rooted against the Vols when ETSU beat them. I saw them play the Fab Five and Arizona in person.
